Franklin County Schools National Technical Honor Society Scholarship Award
Purpose: To recognize a graduating high school senior in Franklin CountySchool system for outstanding vocational achievement. To encourage and promote the development of future vocational leadership. To provide financial assistance to deserving students to attend a 4-year or 2-year college or university majoring in a vocational career (Agriculture, Auto Mechanics, Business, Electronics, Environmental Science, Engineering, Health and Human Services, Family Life Consumer Sciences, Masonry, Technology) and encourage them to return to their community and contribute to the economic well being of the area.
Procedure: The student must fill out an application. In addition to application, the student must obtain the following three
letters of recommendation:
a. one from principal, asst. principal, or guidance counselor that will address the student’s attitude, school performance, and financial need
b. one from teacher or employer that address the student’s ability and desire for hard work
c. one from a member of the student’s community
The student must submit a one-page letter in their own handwriting that explains their future plans as related to the education he/she will receive.
The student must be in a senior level course of one or more vocational areas.
A transcript of high school grades must be submitted and a personal interview with the selection committee must be granted.
Evaluation: Evaluation of this program will be made on quarterly basis. The student must be a full-time student and maintain a grade point average as set forth by the school as being satisfactory. Long-range evaluations will be made as students graduate and enter the Workforce.
